Harm reduction is a practical, compassionate approach to substance use. It focuses on reducing negative health and social consequences through empathy and compassion.
A syringe exchange (also called a syringe services program) is a community health program where people can safely exchange used syringes for new, sterile ones. The goal is simple: reduce the spread of infections like HIV and hepatitis C, and help keep people and the community safer.
Naloxone is a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose. It works by blocking opioids from attaching to receptors in the brain, which can restore breathing in someone who has overdosed.
It is safe, easy to use, and has no effect if opioids are not present in the person’s system. We provide naloxone and training on how to use it.
We love when community members want to get involved! Harm Reduction is strongest when the whole community shows up.
There are several ways you can support Hajee House:
Volunteers help with outreach events, supply distribution, community education, administrative support, and special projects. Whether you have medical experience or just a desire to serve, there’s a place for you.
We rely on community support to continue providing free services. Financial donations help us purchase supplies like sterile syringes, naloxone, wound care kits, hygiene items, and testing materials. We may also accept in-kind donations such as socks, hygiene products, and bottled water (check with us first for current needs).
You can help reduce stigma by sharing accurate information about harm reduction and speaking up for evidence-based public health policies in your community.
Local businesses, faith communities, healthcare providers, and community organizations can collaborate with us on outreach events, educational workshops, or supply drives.
Sometimes the most powerful support is simply letting people know we’re here. Sharing our services with someone who might need them can save a life.
If you're interested in getting involved, reach out through our contact form or call us directly. We’ll help you find the best fit based on your interests and availability.
